Lectors and Commentators
Mission and Objectives
We, the Lectors and Commentators of the Parish of St Vincent de Paul, commit ourselves:
To love and serve God and neighbour, as commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, by striving, with the guidance of His Holy Spirit:
-
to undertake and make every effort to acquire a warm and living love, and knowledge, of Scripture;
-
and thereby enter into an intimate and personal relationship with God, our heavenly Father, who reveals Himself in and through Scripture;
-
so that our faith thus formed may bring God’s Word to life and make it real for the people of God, especially those who have gathered to hear His word as we proclaim it, in the liturgical celebration of the Holy Eucharist;
-
in order to inculcate a participation in body and spirit by the congregation that is conscious, active, full, and motivated by faith, hope, and charity.
We pray that speech may be given to us to open our mouths to make
known without fear the mystery of the Gospel of which we are
ambassadors so that we may have the courage to proclaim it as
boldly as we must.

6:19-20).
